Solution II® laser polyester material has found its way into many unique and interesting applications. These applications reflect the diversity of GSSI's customer base. However, in terms of what our customers require in a substrate, they all have 2 things in common:

  • Durability is critical for the application.
  • Laser imaging is the print technology employed.

The largest printer in the horticultural industry uses Solution II® to make nursery tags. The material is laser imaged (Color and monochrome) and attached to trees and plants. The tags are exposed to sun and water all season long with no fear of color fading, shrinking or cracking.

The US Marine Band uses Solution II® for their sheet music. The band can't afford to have their music notes "washed out" when playing at important government events and functions during inclement weather.

A large hospital conglomerate utilizes Solution II® for patient wrist bands. New laser imaging technology allows hospitals to put more details regarding patient information on the wrist bands (ie: pictures, bar codes, etc.).

Solution II® is found on clock faces bearing the logos of NFL, MLB, NHL and NBA teams. Disney characters are also represented on these clocks which are sold through the WalMart retail chain. These 4 color images are laser printed on Solution II® die cut and assembled into the clocks. The clocks can be put anywhere without fear of the faces becoming faded from light or destroyed from water condensation.

The FOAA (Federal Oceanographic and Atmospheric Agency) uses Solution II® for operating manuals at their weather stations all over the world. Although the manuals are laser printed and assembled in the FOAA Washington DC headquarters, each station is equipped with at least one laser printer and can make changes to the manuals or utilize Solution II® for signs.

Staples carries Solution II® on the shelves of their new business/retail spin off stores, "Beyond Brighten" or "Business Expo". Staples sees a real need in the small business arena for durable, laser printable substrates. The large retail chain is emphasizing laser printers and laser accessories in the next 3 years and they see Solution II® as a natural fit with their product line.

Several large forms printers and label makers use Solution II® for ID cards. The material is printed offset in large sheets, die cut into individual cards and affixed to 8.5"x11" carrier sheets. These affixed cards are then shipped to the end-user (insurance CO's, healthcare CO's, small businesses, etc), who laser images the proprietary information on the cards for their customers. The cards can be peeled off the carrier sheet and held in the customer's wallet indefinitely without fear of damage.

Several cemeteries in the Midwest use Solution II® as grave markers and signs.
